![]() Our strategy has been to build intelligence ranging from visibility to adversaries (criminals and intelligence agencies), to potential targets (networks and endpoints), through the network connecting them - the internet - and the malicious infrastructure operating there. So, as much as it is odd to say, 2020 turned out to be a very strong year for Recorded Future. The technical abilities of a nation-state, like what we saw for Russia with SUNBURST and the infiltration of the US government and beyond, can be quite remarkable - this needs to be countered with remarkable intelligence and more. Hence intelligence in the cyber domain is critical and technical intelligence that connects geopolitical and business context to cyber is even more critical. As we saw pandemic events, conflicts, politics, and drug development (intermingled science fiction style my friends!) transpiring through the year, the cyber ingredient was higher than ever. Uncertainty drives the need for intelligence, and uncertainty certainly has been abundant. ![]() That said, I will still endeavor to do so.ΔΆ020 has been a year that told us that intelligence matters. Hence, writing an even somewhat celebratory look back at 2020 is difficult. For many, the sadness and fear evoked from very personal events related to COVID-19 will remain with us for a long time. Between the pandemic, economic downturn, global conflicts, regional conflicts, and wild politics, it has certainly been a year to both remember and to move on from. I've been longing to say that hindsight is 2020 all year.
